Dr. Casey Johnston, PT, DPT

Dr. Casey hails from Ellsworth and has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics since 2012. 

 

She received her B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maine in 1996 and spent 12 years working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor both in Maine and in South Florida before continuing her education and achieving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Husson University. 

 

Dr. Casey enjoys treating a variety of conditions and promoting a fitness forward lifestyle.  She makes a concerted effort to educate her patients on their condition and teach self-management skills.  She has much experience working with pre-teen and teen athletes, Crossfit practitioners as well as geriatrics.  Casey herself enjoys participating in Crossfit.  She holds a 3rd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and has completed through Level 2 (Orange) of Krav Maga. 

 

Casey is passionate about self-defense training and teaches seminars for women and children.  Casey and her son are well known for their love of Halloween and the entire community looks forward to their seasonal displays.  When not working, training or creating with her son, Casey spends time with her 3 dogs Coach, Nina and Dobby.

Dr. Dan Waterman, LAT, ATC

Dr. Dan Waterman is the owner and founder of Variable Movement LLC. He started the sports medicine clinic in June of 2021.

Dan has been a clinically practicing athletic trainer since 2009. He started working in the secondary school providing medical services to Mt. Blue High School and Franklin Memorial Hospital. He most recently worked in an integrative health setting as a rehabilitation coordinator, and now has put those two passions together at Variable Movement.

Dan graduated from University of New England for his undergraduate degree, and earned his Doctorate in Athletic Training at Indiana State University. He is a published author, outdoor enthusiast, and is passionate about providing patient centered and goal oriented care.
